Run with Sweetheart City!

Come Run with Us, Windsor CO!

Whether you live in Windsor, Loveland, Fort Collins, or another community in Northern Colorado, you can find family friendly activities in which you can participate almost any weekend of the year. If you like to get out and run or walk, your prospects are even better thanks to Sweetheart City Racing.

A non-profit, community-based organization, Sweetheart City Racing is for all runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Although we are based in Loveland, runners come from throughout NoCo, including from Windsor, Berthoud, and Longmont, to participate in events, run their first half marathon, or achieve personal milestones.

Running is a lot of fun, but it can also be hard work especially when you are trying to achieve a distance or speed that is new for you. Having a running club like Sweetheart City Racing can help to provide you with camaraderie, inspiration, and support. As with many arduous tasks, there is often strength in numbers, and sometimes having someone alongside you as you run provides the motivation you need to keep on going.

Whether you are running because you want to enter and win races, to lose weight, or to get in better shape, we can help you to achieve your goals. If you are of a competitive bent, there are several races sponsored throughout the year. Maybe you’re less competitive, but enjoy running with others of similar abilities. Races provide a wonderful arena to share the experience with a community of like minded people.

If you want the opportunity to run in a 5K or even a half marathon, just to prove to yourself that you can do it, the encouragement from others in the club can be invaluable, as can a weekly series such as our Mile Series. Many of us are tempted to bail when we have to get out and run when it is too hot or too cold, but knowing that others will be right there with us can help us to fight such temptations and enjoy the outing much more than we expected.

Of course, folks from Windsor and the surrounding area know how gorgeous Northern Colorado can be and sometimes it can be fun just to get outside and run/walk with other families to enjoy the scenery and the increased physical activity. Many of our weekly events allow children to ride their bikes or scooters while their parents run or walk. Other weekly events start and end at local breweries and runners can enjoy a refreshing beverage along with the friendship of other runners once they have completed their run.

If your fear is that you’ll be the “only one” … the only one from Windsor … the only one who’s never run a 5K … the only one who has to bring a child along … the only one who has to stop and walk for periods of time … fear not. We are for anyone and everyone who wants to run and wants to have fun doing it. While there are definitely some serious race enthusiasts in the group, there are also many who simply value the outdoor time, the chance to get some exercise and fresh air, or the chance to improve their skills in an environment where there are others just like them. Members participate in events as they choose and there is never any pressure to do anything that you are not comfortable with.

And, of course, you are always welcome to run on your own whenever you want. Don’t feel like leaving Windsor this weekend? Take a run in your own neighborhood and enjoy the solitude. Feeling like you want some company the following week, run with some friends in Loveland and then grab a cup of coffee after. The benefit of Sweetheart City Racing is that you can have the best of both worlds: the encouragement, coaching, and inspiration of a group of runners that you can utilize at your own pace and convenience, and the ability to run apart from the group when the mood strikes you.

Ultimately, Sweetheart City Racing is just plain fun. You will make new friends, find new places to run, and inevitably learn about the newest running gear and accessories. You may also find yourself willing to take on new challenges or reaching new milestones that had once been only a dream. Make sure to check out our website and the calendar of upcoming running events and opportunities. Choose one … or more … that fits your goals, abilities, and needs and let's run together!
