Fun Fall Festivities in NoCo!
Let’s face it, every season in Northern Colorado has a particular beauty, but there does seem to be something special about the fall months. This year it has been especially enjoyable to get out in cooler temperatures following one of the hottest summers on record. The allure of the trees changing color, the crisp air, the coming holidays; fall just seems made for outdoor festivals. Luckily, there is no shortage of activities in Northern Colorado during autumn.
There are few things better than running in the crisp autumn air!
Two of our favorites here at Sweetheart City Racing, a premiere run club in Northern Colorado are The Bell Ringer 4-Miler and Huffin for Stuffin. Loveland is one of the few remaining cities in the nation to follow the old tradition of ringing bells throughout the town in the early morning hours of Veteran’s Day. The race will be run on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Northlake Park (please note that parking will be available off of 29th Street at Loveland High School as parking at Northlake is extremely limited). The Bell Ringer pays tribute to the old Veteran’s Day traditions to honor all of those who have served our nation in the armed forces. This year, The Bell Ringer will benefit Post 2000. We are especially proud to be helping this Post as they have created a Loveland Veteran's Assistance program.
Be sure to check out The Bell Ringer event page for information about the race and to register. You will also want to take a look at the special socks that were created for this event. In order to ensure that you get your pair, make sure to register by 10/18/2021. They are so comfy and well-designed that you won’t want to miss out!
Want to earn that Thanksgiving stuffing?
Our other fall event is Huffin for Stuffin on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 25, 2021, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Mehaffey Park. Huffin for Stuffin is a 2-mile fun run and the even includes a fun course, music, vendors, and more! Whether or not you are running, please be sure to come dressed in your best Turkey Day outfit. Every participant in the run will receive a memorable campfire mug and bib. Shirts can be added on during registration. Besides providing tons of fall fun, this event will benefit KidsPak. We will also be accepting food donations to help fill their shelves.
In addition to these two special events, we also continue to hold our Thursday group run. The group run starts off from a variety of breweries in the Loveland area and is followed by a social hour so that everyone in our running community can get to know each other. Be sure to check our race calendar for the starting point each week.
But I don’t run.
Not really a runner, but still want to enjoy all that fall has to offer in our area. Not to worry, there are plenty of events for everyone to enjoy. Love Jack-o-lanterns? Visit the Downtown Pumpkin Festival at The Foundry (1st-3rd Streets between Lincoln Ave. and Cleveland St.). The festival will feature local farmers market pumpkins, Loveland artists, pumpkin sculptures, food vendors and more! Shop farmers market stands and vendor booths throughout The Foundry Plaza and enjoy some time downtown in the crisp fall air!
The general event is free to attend. However, tickets are required to Decorate Pumpkins - $12 each. Please purchase pumpkin decorating tickets in advance (available at EventBrite), they will likely sell out! Outdoors is the perfect place for pumpkin carving as it keeps sticky, stringy pumpkin innards and seeds off of your counter, kitchen table, and sink!
Also coming up are:
The Great Colorado Air Show at Northern Colorado Regional Airport, October 16 and 17.
The Rocky Mountain Train Show at The Ranch in Loveland, November 27 and 28.
Fall won’t last forever!
Whatever it is that you enjoy doing, we encourage you to get out and do it during these beautiful fall days. Winter will be upon us all too soon and at that point, we all know that there will be many days when outdoor activities will not be enjoyable or, often, even possible. Get together with friends and family and plan your activities for this autumn and enjoy all that Northern Colorado has to offer!
